End of an Era

This last weekend I ran a ton of errands. I picked up some French themed books at my used bookstore including some Inspector Magittes, Adam Gopnicks American in Paris and even a history book told through the cities metro stops. Now I have too many books and have to decide what to bring. I do like real paper books even though I was toying with the idea of digital reading.

Walked past the garden/gift store downtown and it was their last day of a huge sale - the store was practically empty. I picked up a ton if goodies including some French creams. I was afraid they were going our if sale since just the week before I was walking by the boutique clothes store and found out after about 5 years they were closing. They were my goto place for British Joule jackets.

But the first place I went to was the bank- to cash these old things:

Remember when you wouldn't think of traveling without travelers cheques. I think I got these for a trip in the late 90s. I  had come across them and made a resolution to either bring them on this trip or cash them. And then I realized it would be more of a hassle on a trip than a benefit. So as I was signing them at the bank tellers window I took a quick snap to remember the bygone days.
